FreeFood e. V. Gerlingen hat es sich zur Aufgabe gemacht Lebensmittel vor der Tonne zu retten und an alle fair zu teilen.

Was ist unser Ziel? Unser Ziel ist es Bürger zum Umdenken zu bewegen sowie Gestaltung eines stärkeren Bewusstseins in der Gesellschaft für Nachhaltigkeit.

Die Lebensmittel, die wir täglich nutzen, verbrauchen viele Ressourcen. Doch wie gehen wir damit um?

Im Haushalt kommen ca. 85 kg pro Jahr und Kopf, noch genießbare Lebensmittel in den Müll. Somit sind all die Ressourcen, die beim Anbau, Produktion, Lagerung und Transport verbraucht wurden ebenfalls für den Müll.

Muss das sein? Nein! Jeder einzelne kann etwas dagegen tun, denn…

FreeFood e.V. rettet regelmäßig Lebensmittel und fair-teilt diese im

Fair-Teiler „Treff LebensWert“ in Gerlingen, Bachstraße 13

Dieser wurde uns zum 31.12.2026 gekündigt.

Wir suchen daher dringend eine Räumlichkeit in der wir längerfristig ein zu Hause finden.

Wir haben bestimmte Vorgaben zu erfüllen, da wir als Lebensmittelbetrieb beim Veterinäramt gelistet sind. Welche Bedingungen muss eine Liegenschaft erfüllen, damit wir weiterhin unserer ehrenamtlichen Arbeit nachgehen können:

80 -100 qm, ebenerdiger Zugang, Anfahrt und Parken für unser Kühlfahrzeug, Wasseranschluss, Toiletten, Gerlingen zentrumsnah – Randgebiet möglich.

Wir sind für jede Idee – Vorschlag offen.

Das Projekt FreeFood wurde Mitte 2019 in Gerlingen von Klaus Gottschalk und seinem Team ins Leben gerufen.

Aufgrund von Corona-Restriktionen konnte das Projekt in seiner Art leider nicht weitergeführt werden. Viele Gerlinger Bürger, die FreeFood aus Gründen der Nachhaltigkeit oder aus Bedürftigkeit in Anspruch genommen haben, waren enttäuscht und fragten wann es weitergeht.

So hat sich seit März 2020 ein kleines Team zusammen gefunden, das auf privater Ebene ehrenamtlich weiterhin Lebensmittel gerettet und fair teilt hat.

Um FreeFood ein Gesicht zu geben, bekannt zu werden, und weitere Projekte (nicht nur Lebensmittelrettung), hat sich Klaus Gottschalk, entschieden den gemeinnützigen Verein „FreeFood e.V.“ zu gründen.

Wir alle arbeiten ehrenamtlich und freuen uns, wenn wir unterstützt werden – durch eine Mitgliedschaft, ehrenamtliche Mitarbeit, Sponsoren oder Spenden.

Ihr meint das war es? Nein, nein: mit leerem Auto ab zur nächsten Abholung . Im dritten Betrieb, mussten wir dann auch wieder vieles aussortieren. Nach gut 2,5 Std. war alles erledigt.

BROT – UNSER TÄGLICH MÜLL…

Früher, wer weiß es noch, gab es Bäcker, Bäcker die ihr Handwerk verstanden. Früh morgens in die Backstube und den ganzen Vormittag gebacken – von Hand. Brot war vor Jahrhunderten das Grundnahrungsmittel. Unsere (Ur-) Großeltern kannten noch Hunger, hätten daher niemals ein Stück Brot weggeworfen, „Brotfrevel“ genannt. Stattdessen wurde das Brot bis zum letzten Krümel klug verwertet. Von der Produktion in der Backstube direkt ins Regal im Laden. Ganz kurze Wege und der Duft – einfach herrlich. Wo gibt es noch diese Bäcker?

Heute gibt es Tankstellen, Discounter und Supermärkte in denen wir günstig Backwaren erwerben können. Warum günstig? In Massen werden sie produziert, tiefgefroren, haben oft lange Wege vor sich, bis sie zum Handel kommen.

Backwaren – Brot und Brötchen – gibt es regelmäßig bei unseren Abholungen. Immer wieder hören wir „Mein Gott – sooo viel – Warum?“
Ganz einfach – es gibt Auflagen. Diese besagen, dass bis kurz vor Ladenschluss noch eine hohe Warenpräsenz zu zeigen ist.

Was können wir dagegen tun? Eine/e „Brotschafter/in“ kann uns bei Aktionen unterstützen – hauptsächlich bei Brot (wie der Name schon sagt).
